HABITAT

Within India, it is widely cultivated in mountain slopes of North-Eastern India, altitude up to 2200 m. Specifically, it is commercially cultivated in Assam - a heavily forested northeastern section of the country; and in Darjeeling - at the foothills of the Himalayas.
